Welcome to Troop One!
One third of all eligible Piedmont boys (“eligible” meaning of middle school or high school age) is a Boy Scout and Troop One is a cornerstone of that long standing tradition within our community. We have been continuously operating since our chartering back in 1921. Our troop’s first Eagle Scout was James Tyson. By providing an environment for Scouts to lead themselves, Troop One graduates a higher percentage of Eagle Scouts than the national average.
Troop One meets weekly for one hour at 7:30pm on Tuesdays during the school year. We meet at the Piedmont Community Church (in the Kettlewell Room, at the top of the main staircase leading from the street to the church).
We go on outings at least once a month. Some of the favorite trips include going to Dillon Beach to ride down the football field sized sand dunes, river rafting the American river (that has rapids with names like “Dead Man’s Drop” and “Hospital Bar”), doing a service project in Yosemite Valley over a long weekend in the fall, and snow camping snow caves and igloos for a weekend in the winter. We also have summer trips, which include a 50 mile backpacking trip in the Sierras, attending the best summer camps in California, and several Scouts each summer attend the week long National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).
As our focus is on having fun while developing Scouts as leaders, teaching life skills, and fostering a Scout-led program, Troop One has been recognized as having the #1 troop in the Piedmont Council for more than a decade.
We invite you to stop by any of our meetings to learn more about us.
